Common reactions and warning signs after cosmetic procedures

A change in vision, unusual severe pain, white, grey or blue skin colour, or difficulty breathing or swallowing should not be watched at home. In Korea, call 119 or go to an emergency department. Do not delay emergency care while waiting for the clinic to reply.
Dermal fillers
Bruising, redness, swelling and tenderness are among the common risks listed by the FDA. A reaction that keeps worsening or does not match the course explained by the clinic still needs reassessment.
Sudden blurred or double vision, loss of vision, unusual severe pain, white, grey or blue skin colour near the injection, or signs of stroke require immediate medical attention.
Botulinum toxin
The official BOTOX label warns that spread of toxin effect can cause general weakness, double vision, drooping eyelids and difficulty swallowing, speaking or breathing.
Call emergency services if breathing or swallowing becomes difficult, speech changes or whole-body weakness appears, even when hours, days or weeks have passed since treatment.
Laser and IPL
Redness and swelling can be expected after some laser procedures. With ablative resurfacing, oozing, crusting or some blistering may be part of the course explained in advance.
An unexpected blister, an expanding burn, worsening pain or skin injury, pus or fever needs prompt in-person assessment. Do not diagnose infection or burn depth from a photo alone.
RF and RF microneedling
The FDA has warned about reports of burns, scarring, fat loss, disfigurement and nerve damage after certain aesthetic uses of RF microneedling.
Seek prompt in-person care for a blister or clear burn, a deepening wound, new loss of sensation or persistent nerve symptoms rather than trying to manage it only at home.
