Acne scars

A depression left where inflammation ran deep enough to damage the dermis.

Not just a rough surface. Fibrous tissue can form beneath where the inflammation passed and pull the surface down.

While that tethering remains, stimulating regeneration will not lift the depression fully. Treatments that induce dermal regeneration and treatments that release what is underneath do different jobs.
