These are not columns written by doctors. The editorial team reads studies published in medical journals and summarises them, giving the journal, the citation and what the study could not answer. Where a claim you have seen in advertising is involved, we say how far the research actually goes.
A July 2026 BMJ study found more hair-loss diagnoses among people taking GLP-1 drugs. The condition is uncommon to begin with, so absolute numbers stayed small, and the cohort was people with type 2 diabetes.
A April 2026 systematic review, read in full. Eight studies, 171 participants in total. Skin ageing and pigmentation produced measured differences; acne and pores rested on case reports of three patients each.
A June 2026 comparative review. Hyaluronic acid is better at filling a lost space; polynucleotide is better at the texture and firmness of the skin itself.
A July 2026 prospective study. Twenty participants followed for 28 days. Wrinkles and elasticity improved, while hydration dropped early before recovering.
A 2026 study. Forty-four patients received three sessions at four-week intervals; 96% showed a good or better response. There was no control group.
A study published in an American otolaryngology journal in August 2025. CT and MR imaging from 20 patients was compared before and after a GLP-1 prescription, and midfacial volume fell by about 7% for every 10 kg lost.
A randomised placebo-controlled trial published in an American dermatologic surgery journal in March 2026. Each face was split in two and only one side was treated with toning; both sides improved about equally.
A systematic review published in an Australian dermatology journal in May 2025. Fourteen studies and 369 cases of pigmentation were collected, and the one measure that reduced occurrence itself was sunscreen.
A randomised triple-blinded trial published in Scientific Reports in June 2024. The group given a second injection at three months had a thinner masseter at six months, while measured chewing performance did not change in either group.
